OUTREACH

The parable of the Good Samaritan ends with Jesus saying, “Go, and do thou likewise.” God has shown his love to us through the life and death of Jesus Christ; our faith community is called, through service and financial support, to live out the love of Christ that brings new life.

The Outreach Committee connects parishioners with opportunities to serve and stewards St. John’s financial support of ministries near and far.

Parishioners are deeply involved in doing the work of Christ, individually and collectively. Whether transporting a friend to a doctor’s appointment, or calling to make sure someone’s OK, we are an active, deeply caring parish and look after one another. And seeing the many injustices and inequities in our nation and world, we also participate in work to address them.

Recent efforts include joining the Berkshire Sanctuary Network, which is forming to house an immigrant facing deportation whose case seems winnable in time, and other initiatives of the group Berkshire Interfaith Organizing to advance racial and immigrant justice.

We also run a grant program, which each year disburses 10% of the parish’s pledged income to local, national, and international ministries.
